The Artist

Martin Doherty was born in Belfast in 1959. From an early age he was creating black and white sketchings of local scenes. Now living in England he has been involved in setting up arts groups and exhibitions in his local area. His pastimes include mountaineering, which has taken him to many parts of the world. The ancient ethnic artwork from these countries has had a great influence on him. It has also made him appreciate the art and culture in his own background. For this reason he has decided to create a range of Celtic images hand drawn on material. In the future Martin will continue to paint and sketch scenes of Britain, but also try and find more ways of expressing his love of Celtic images.
